Funeral services for Thomas Edmund Stephens, Jr., of Cobb will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Stephens, 84, passed away Wednesday at his residence. Born in Crisp County, he was the son of the late Thomas Edmund, Sr. and Mildred Juanita Chesnut Stephens. He received a BS Degree in horticulture and was the owner and operator of The Plant Place Nursery at Cobb. Mr. Stephens was a member of the Baptist faith He is survived by his wife, Mary Etteen Stephens of Cobb; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Edmund, III and Nora Stephens and Mike and Debbie Stephens, all of Cobb, Richard and Gina Stephens of Leslie and Charlie and Debbie Stephens of Cobb; two sisters, Dot Crook of Carrollton and Sheryl Arnold and her husband, Eddie of Hawkinsville; 10 grandchildren, Tom Stephens, Scott Stephens, Rebecca Kolibaba, Zach Stephens, Michael Stephens James Edmund Stephens, Sara Stephens, Rick Stephens, Chrissy Stephens and Jimmy Stephens; and two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Duff and Jennie Jones. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Stephens. The family requests that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans @ P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
