Funeral services for James "Jr." O'Neal of Cordele will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. O'Neal,79, passed away Saturday at Leisure Life Care Home in Unadilla. He was born in Wilcox County and was the son of the late James Melvin, Sr. and Loise Atkinson O'Neal. A United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, Mr. O'Neal was a retired business owner and an active member of the Vienna-Shiloh United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty M. O'Neal of Cordele; a son, Mike O'Neal and Robin O'Neal, both of Cordele; two granddaughters, Amanda O'Neal and Kelly O'Neal; two great-grandchildren, Layla and Reece; one brother, Norman "Buddy" O'Neal and his wife, Janice of Douglasville; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Murphy of Cordele; three nieces and a nephew, Bettye Stripling and Lamar Dean, both of Cordele, Gail Dean Hardison of Macon and Joy Dean of Centerville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Dean Blalock. The family may be contacted at the O'Neal residence at 1018 East 27th Avenue, Cordele.
