Obituaries

A memorial service for Patricia Shugart Phillips of Vienna will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.  Mrs. Phillips, 68,  passed away Monday at Crisp Regional Hospital.  Born in Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Craig and Jessie Inez Turner Shugart.  She was retired from Lasco, Inc. and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, James E. Phillips of Vienna; four children and their spouses, Carol and Ray Wilkes of Vienna, Ginger Turner, and Teresa McGinnis and her companion, Jim Osborne, all of Cordele, and Shannon Fultz and Alan of Pitts; two step-children, Dovon Phillips of Dahlonaga and Rethea Peters and her husband, Michael of Richmond Hill;  two brothers and their wives, Clint and Louise Shugart of Unadilla and Jack and Brenda Shugart of Perry; two sisters and their husbands, Mildred "Dee Dee"  and Louis "Smitty" Smith of Perry and Merry and Joe Peacock of Vienna; 15 grandchildren, Joy Fultz, Adam Turner, Monica Melton, Dina McGinnis, Stephanie Turner, Courtney Wilkes, Bryan Wilkes, Kurt Martin, Kayla Windham, Chris Martin, Jason Phillips, Jared Peters, Nicholas Peters, Patrick Peters and Michael Peters; and 17 great-grandchildren, Angela Englehart, Alexis Englehart, Breanna Wilkes, Haley Bolton, Blake Kirby, Brandon Kirby, Ryleigh Wilkes, Peyton Clark, Little Fred Wilkes, Karlee Melton, Eliza Beth Phillips, Dustin Peters, Skyler Peters, Lana Peters, Sydney Peters, Kylie Peters and Zander Peters.   Flowers will be accepted but the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384.
