Obituaries

Funeral services for Ruth Jelks of Venice, FL will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice, FL.   A graveside service for her will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 5 at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County. Ms. Jelks, 93, died Monday, June 29 at her residence.   A member of the Venice Baptist Church, she was a school teacher (RET) and a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Florida.  Ms. Jelks was a former resident of the Wilcox and Dooly County area and had taught in the Dooly County school system.  In the past she had been active in the Weavers Guild of Venice, the Manasota Weavers Guild, Weavers of Boston, and the Hand Weavers Guild of America.  Ms. Jelks is survived by two dear friends, Norma Jean Hawkins of Vienna and Pamela L. Lambillotte of Venice, FL.
