Funeral services for Leland Carl Fowler of Macon will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. The committal service will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Prior to the funeral Friday they will receive friends again from 2:00 until the hour of the service. Mr. Fowler, 88, passed away on Tuesday at his residence. A former long-time resident of Cordele, Mr. Fowler was born in Madison County and was the son of the late Emorie and Mary Elizabeth Brown Fowler. He was a retired machinist and the owner and operator of Fowler Automotive and Machine Shop. He was an active member of Gilliad Baptist Church and the Dixie Aero Masters Club. He was also a past member of the American Legion and the VFW in Cordele. Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Fowler of Macon; three children and their spouses, Gary and Marilyn Fowler of Leesburg, Larry L. Fowler of Rossville, Sandra and David Chancy of Unadilla; a sister, Julie Lee Holcomb of Cordele; five grandchildren, Larry Fowler, Jr., Kevin Fowler, Leah Farmer, Brandon J. Fowler and his wife, Deanna, and David "Cal" Chancy, Jr. and his wife, Katie; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Brooke Farmer, Tylor Scott Farmer, Kayli Fowler and Meghan Fowler; and one great-great-grandson, Aiden Lee Farmer.
